Four manual lifeboats alongside the accommodation ladder of the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) in Sognefjord, off Balholm Norway. The photographer is on board the ship looking down and forward from the ship's starboard rail showing the back of the accommodation ladder and the four boats manned by passengers preparing for a race. Each boat is under the supervision of two crew members and one of the ship's motor lifeboats is preparing to take the boats in a line astern tow to the starting position for the race. Negatives numbers P84614 to P84618 inclusive and P85487 and P85488 were taken on the same occasion.
