The photographer is looking east-by-south from an elevated position in the Castel Nuovo with the volcano Mount Vesuvius in the background. An Orient Line brow is rigged from the quayside to the ship and seven motor vehicles are parked near it. A steam roller is parked near a warehouse at the back of the mole and beyond this warehouse construction has started on the Beverello passenger terminal complex. The San Vincenzo pier is on the right.
