Two motor tenders and seven manual lifeboats from the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) during 'abandon ship' drill in the Sognefjord off Balholm, Norway. The photographer is on board the ship looking at the boats during the drill. In the foreground is one of the motor tenders full of officers towing a manual lifeboat carrying other crewmen. In the background one of the motor tenders is towing six manual lifeboats in line astern. The officers in the motor tenders are not wearing any life jackets but the occupants of the manual lifeboats are. Negative number P85495 was taken on the same occasion.
