A port bow view of the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) anchored in a Norwegian fjord, possibly Sognefjord off Balholm.

A port bow view of the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) anchored in a Norwegian fjord. She has both anchors deployed and an accommodation ladder is rigged aft with a boat alongside it. The crew and passengers are packed alongside the foredeck and superstructure rails, probably watching boat races as a number of the ship's manual lifeboats have been launched. The Norwegian flag is flying from the top of the foremast. There are patches of snow on the mountains in the background. The negative is captioned "Home sweet home". Although the location has not been given it is likely to be off Balholm in Sognefjord, which is where the Orient Line cruise ships regularly ran boat races involving the passengers.
