A slightly distant port side view, taken from well ahead of the beam, of the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) at anchor in Sognefjord off Balholm, Norway. She has both anchors deployed and an accommodation ladder is rigged aft with a boat alongside it. Lifeboats 8, 10 and 18 have been launched and boats 8A and 10A have been swung out and lowered to upper promenade deck level. A large number of crew and passengers are ling the rails of the foredeck and the front of the superstructure to watch boat racing involving passengers. The photographer is in a boat looking back at the ship.
