Two manual lifeboats and a motor tender from the Orient line cruise ship Orontes (1929) heading off to the start of a race in an unknown location.
Two manual lifeboats and a motor tender from the Orient line cruise ship Orontes (1929) heading off to the start of a race in an unknown location. The motor tender is towing the other boats in line astern. The manual boats are each crewed by sixteen passengers and two seamen and they are proceeding with their oars tossed. Three other manual lifeboats are on the same tow but are out of the picture. The ship is in an enclosed anchorage with a coast lined with commercial buildings in the background. A 2-masted schooner is under sail on the left. Negative number P84691 was taken on the same occasion.
