A starboard bow view, taken from fine off the bow, of the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) alongside Berth 44 in the Ocean Dock at Southampton, Hampshire. The photographer is under a crane on the quayside abreast the bow looking back along the roadway showing the ship, berthed starboard side on, with an Orient Line brow rigged aft. Food stores are on the quayside being loaded on board through an open shell door. Track mounted cranes are on the quay and the nearest one is a 1911 Stothert & Pitt Free Barrel Crane fitted with Mitchell Williams luffing gear. The next crane has the number 2 on it. A vertical format negative. Negative numbers P84738 to P84744 were taken on the same occasion.
