A slightly distant port broadside view of the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) at anchor in Ulvikfjord off Ulvik, Norway. She has her starboard anchor deployed and two accommodation ladders are rigged aft, one to the main deck and one to a shell door which has a boat alongside it. Lifeboat number 8 has been swung out and lowered to upper promenade deck level. The Norwegian flag is at the head of the foremast. The photographer is looking from the shore showing one of the ship's motor lifeboats heading back to the ship from a landing stage and four girls are at a bench on the stage. There are patches of snow on the mountains in the background.
