Three manual lifeboats and two motor lifeboats from the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) heading for the start of a race in Sognefjord, off Balholm, Norway. The boats are seen from on board the ship and a motor boat is towing boats 3, 6 and 5 in line astern. Each clinker built manual boat is manned by eleven crew members. The photographer is looking down from on board the ship and the boats are seen from fine off their port bows. A vertical format negative.
