A slightly distant starboard broadside view of the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) anchored at Rhodes.
A slightly distant starboard broadside view of the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) anchored at Rhodes. Her port anchor is deployed and she has an accommodation ladder rigged to a shell door just aft of amidships with a boat alongside it. The photographer is looking east from the quay near the church dedicated to Agios Ioannis showing the two stone columns at the entrance to Rhodes harbour. The nearest column is surmounted by a stag (elafos) and the other column has the she-wolf suckling Remus and Romulus on it. The Fort of St. Nicolas is on the right. The ship's motor tender number 2 is heading out through the harbour entrance.
