A very close view of part of the port bow of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Ranchi (1925) alongside a wooden wharf in the West Indies or the Caribbean. The photographer is on the wharf alongside the forward well deck looking forward showing the hull, including the ship's name, and guardrails at the bow with two mooring lines connected to bollards. The nearest line is not a proper mooring rope. Twenty convertible motor cars are parked on the wharf which is backed by single storey, pitched roof, corrugated iron store buildings and some palm trees. A vertical format negative.
