A starboard near broadside view, taken from only just abaft the beam, of the Cunard Line cruise ship Samaria (1921) anchored off Funchal, Madeira.
A starboard near broadside view, taken from only just abaft the beam, of the Cunard Line cruise ship Samaria (1921) anchored off Funchal, Madeira. Her port anchor is deployed and she has an accommodation ladder rigged to a shell door amidships with many local boats alongside it. One of the boats near the accommodation ladder has "Savoy Hotel" on its hull. A large lighter and some smaller boats are alongside aft and the lighter is carrying wickerwork furniture that the local traders are hoping to sell to the passengers.
