A slightly distant starboard side view, taken from well abaft the beam, of the Cunard Line cruise ship Samaria (1921) berthed at Quarry Wharf, Grand Harbour, Malta. She is moored stern-on to the wharf and she has both anchors deployed. An accommodation ladder is rigged to a shell door amidships with a steam passenger launch alongside it and dghaisas standing off. A steam lighter and more dghaisas are alongside her starboard quarter. The photographer is looking east-by-north from the Upper Barrakka showing the Royal Navy Hospital at Bighi in the right background, Fort Ricasoli in the centre and Ricasoli breakwater on the left. The Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) is moored in the centre of the harbour and an unidentified short sea passenger/cargo ship is berthed alongside the Samaria (1921).
