The photographer is at Punda on the east side of the channel looking west-south-west. A large number of people and many cars are on the quayside in the foreground. A notice board on the quay is advertising the showing of the film "Small Town Girl" at the Roxy cinema and this film was released in April 1936. In the left foreground is a concrete structure with a uniformed man or statue on it
