A close starboard quarter view of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Stratheden (1937) at anchor, presumably in Italian waters. The photographer is in a boat close to her stern looking forward. Lifeboat number 15 has been launched but the ship has no accommodation ladders rigged to her starboard side. Lifeboat number 16 is fully laden with passengers, is in the charge of a cadet, a mechanic and four lascars and is approaching the photographer. Two rowing boats are near the stern of the lifeboat. A vertical format negative.
