Passengers gathered on the monkey island above the bridge on board the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Strathmore (1935) while under way at sea. The photographer is on the steam whistle platform on the forward face of the funnel looking forward. Many passengers and one of the ship's officers are crowded onto the island with some of them looking back at the photographer. Other passengers and a ship's rating are standing at the rail on the starboard side of the bridge deck. Negatives numbers P85056 and P85057 were taken on the same occasion.
