A port quarter view of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Strathmore (1935) alongside a pontoon at Port Said, Egypt. She has long mooring lines run out astern, amidships and forward and has accommodation ladders rigged amidships and aft. She is flying the Egyptian national flag from the head of her foremast and the top of her mainmast is just out of the picture. She has a water boat alongside just abaft her aft accommodation ladder and a large number of small boats are in the foreground. Berthed ahead of the Strathmore and also seen from off the port quarter is the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company passenger/cargo liner Carthage (1931) on a homeward voyage from China and India to London.
