Study of the armoured control tower of HMS 'Princess Royal'
Inscribed by the artist, lower right, 'P Royal'. This is a reasonably accurate drawing of the armoured control tower of the battlecruiser 'Princess Royal', built by Vickers at Barrow, launched on 29 April 1911 and completed in November 1912. The control tower is sited between 'B' turret (left) and the bridge and is depicted here as in 1917. Splinter mattresses are shown round the face of the bridge and a Carley life-raft is suspended on the superstructure.
