A slightly distant port bow view of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Strathnaver (1931) at moorings in Grand Harbour, Malta. She has accommodation ladders rigged amidships and aft with a passenger tender alongside the aft ladder and a lighter just ahead of it. She is flying the Blue Peter from the port yardarm of her foremast and lifeboat number 18 has been launched. Another passenger tender is heading towards the shore. The photographer is looking south-by-west from the Upper Barrakka at Valletta showing a Royal Navy Queen Elizabeth class battleship afloat in the sunken Admiralty Floating Dock No. 8 (1917) on the right with the Corradino Heights in the background. A cargo ship, seen from fine off her starboard bow, is moored at the entrance to French Creek on the left. Negative number P85134 was taken on the same occasion.
