A port near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Strathnaver (1931) at moorings in Grand Harbour, Malta. She has two accommodation ladders rigged to shell doors amidships and a passenger tender is alongside the aft one. A water lighter is alongside the stern. The photographer is looking south-east-by-east from the Upper Barrakka in Valletta showing Kalkara Creek on the left and a Royal Navy 'D' class light cruiser of the 3rd Cruiser Squadron of the Mediterranean Fleet is moored in the creek. The light cruiser Danae (1918), seen from off her starboard bow, is moored at the mouth of the creek. Both cruisers have a full set of awnings rigged. Fort St. Angelo is on the right. Negatives numbers P85150 and P85151 were taken on the same occasion.
