A port near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Strathnaver (1931) at moorings in Grand Harbour, Malta. She has two accommodation ladders rigged to shell doors amidships with boats alongside them. Three members of the crew are painting the foremast and the Blue Peter is flying from the starboard yardarm on the foremast. Other crew members are on a pontoon and the mooring buoy ahead of the ship. The photographer is looking south-east from Quarry Wharf in Valletta showing Fort St. Angelo on the right. Moored beyond the Strathnaver is the Royal Navy battleship Royal Oak (1914).
