A port quarter view, taken from wide off the stern, of the German Navy submarine U14 (1936) under way in Lisbon harbour, Portugal. She has horizontal red, white and black stripes on her conning tower. Five of her crew are at harbour stations on the foredeck and another five are working with mooring ropes aft of the conning tower. Four officers are standing on the conning tower. She has a 20 mm anti-aircraft gun mounted on her foredeck. A steam fishing trawler is alongside a quay on the right and the Brazilian passenger ship Cuyaba (1906) is in the centre background.
