On the aft promenade deck of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) while under way in a Norwegian fjord. The photographer is looking forward and to starboard from the mainmast winch deck showing many passengers sitting in deck chairs by the ship's rail. Two groups are playing deck quoits. Three of the ship's officers are leaning on the aft rail of the boat deck. The man on the left is bare-headed, the man in the centre has a cap with the standard P & O sun cap badge and two stripes on his cuffs and the man on the right is the chief radio officer. His cap has a crown and anchor badge on it. Negatives numbers P85231 and P85232 were taken on the same occasion.
