A distant port side view, taken from well abaft the beam, of the Canadian Pacific Steamships cruise ship Duchess of Richmond (1928) moored to buoys in Grand Harbour, Malta. The photographer is looking east-by-north from the Upper Barrakka above the Saluting Battery in Valletta showing 18 pounder field howitzers in the foreground. The ship is dressed overall and number 18 lifeboat has been launched and number 16 boat is swung out. An accommodation ladder is rigged at her aft shell doors and a boat is alongside it. A Royal Air Force steam tug with an alongside tow is under way in the harbour. Ricasoli is in the left background, Bighi in the centre and Fort St. Angelo on the right.
