In the background, from left to right, are the spire ofthe church of Our Lady and St. Nicholas, the Royal Liver Building with the time recorded as 6.25, the Cunard Building and the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board Building. Beyond the latter building is one of the Portland stone and brick ventilation shafts of the Mersey Tunnel.
