A starboard broadside view of the Cunard White Star Line cruise ship Doric (1923) stopped after a collision in the Atlantic off Oporto, Portugal.
A slightly distant starboard broadside view of the Cunard White Star Line cruise ship Doric (1923) stopped after a collision in the Atlantic off Oporto, Portugal. Seven of her starboard side boats have been swung out and lowered to deck level and she has an accommodation ladder rigged to her well deck aft with a boat alongside it. Her hull just ahead of the bridge structure is showing the collision damage. Her stern is out of the picture. On the right and seen from just ahead of her port beam is the French cargo ship Formigny (1915) which has damage to her starboard bow and a slight list to starboard. She has an accommodation ladder rigged amidships.
The Doric was in collision with the Formigny (1915) in fog off Oporto and proceeeded to Vigo Bay for temporary repairs before returning to Tilbury.
