Seascape from the 'Panaghis M. Hadoulis'
A sketch of the sea from the 'Panaghis M. Hadoulis'. The artist has concentrated on the rhythmic patterning of waves on a calm sea. In particular he is concerned to show the vastness and inevitability of the sea as a diagonal rhythmic pattern. In the foreground the waves are arranged as several rows of undulations of darker blue paint hatched in short strokes. Light plays across the surface of the water on top of the waves. Everett sailed in the Greek-owned steamer, 'Panaghis M. Hadoulis', from Cardiff, Wales, to Montevideo, Uruguay, and back between December 1931 and March 1932.
