Five Merchant Navy crew members in a formal group on board an unknown ship. Seated on the left of the picture is an officer with a single stripe on his cuff and a five-pointed star above it. In the centre is an officer with a single stripe and a diamond on his cuff and the man of the right is possibly a steward with pens in his top pocket. Standing at the back are a member of the ship's galley staff and a female in a white coat, possibly a nurse or a children's nanny. Double stacked lifeboats are in the right background.
