Navstar 2000 P Marine Chart Plotter

Manufactured in 1987 by Navstar Systems, the 2000P chart plotter was aimed at the fishing and commercial maritime market. The chart plotter interfaces with the ‘Navstar 2000D Decca Receiver’ (see ZBA9317) and the ‘Navstar 2000S Satellite Navigator’ (ZBA9314) via NMEA 0182 or 0183 data link. The electronic plotter also worked with other SatNav, Loran and Decca Receivers. While the receivers provided a user with latitude, longitude, speed and other information, the electronic plotter added a visual display of the ship’s position away from land.

The Navstar 2000P Marine Chart Plotter utilised the world’s then-largest catalogue of digitised charts. These charts were available on ‘cartridges’ that were loaded into the plotter. One cartridge covered approximately 50,000 square miles. The system offered full zoom capability down to a range of half a mile and shows may port plans, depth contours, lights, buoys, etc. When interfaced with Navstar 2000 Series, XR4 or other navigation receivers, current position is shown continuously on the screen.
