A starboard bow view, taken from fine off the bow, of the stemhead bowsprit spritsail barge Ethel Maud (1889) under sail in the Thames Estuary on the Outer Medway. She has a white staysail and jib set and the crew are working on a white spinnaker which is laid over the starboard bow and connected to the end of the bowsprit. On the right and sailing parallel to the Ethel Maud is the Mirosa (1892) which also has a white staysail and jib. She has a Blue Circle Cement logo on her topsail. A vertical format negative.
