A slightly distant port broadside view of the staysail spritsail barge Ironsides (1900) and the oyster smack Marigold (1981) under sail at the start of a barge match in the Thames Estuary. The Ironsides has a white staysail and the RDL logo on her topsail and she is partially obscured by an unidentified gaff cutter rigged yacht that is alongside her. On the right is the Marigold, a modern replica of a late 19th century oyster smack, with white jib, staysail and topsail and red foresail and mainsail. The port registry on her hull is MN119. Beyond the Marigold is a Yachting Monthly 3 tonner sloop rigged yacht but her sail number is not legible.
