Seascape from the 'Penaglis M. Hadoulis'
A rapid sketch from the 'Penaglis M. Hadoulis' looking towards an empty horizon. There is a trough between two waves in the foreground on this calm sea. The wave on the right is shown as a series of curved short brush strokes of colour reaching an undulating crest. The loose work in this sketch indicates that it was a done at speed to capture the ephemeral nature of the wave in the foreground. Everett sailed in the Greek-owned steamer, 'Penaglis M. Hadoulis', from Cardiff, Wales, to Montevideo, Uruguay, and back between December 1931 and March 1932. The link with this voyage is identified by the inscription 'PMH' on the verso.
