A port quarter view, taken from wide off the stern, of the Rochester bawley Thistle (1887) under sail in the River Medway, bound downriver after the start of a match. The top of her mast and mainsail are out of the picture and she is on the port tack. A number of smacks and bawleys are ahead of her. Negatives numbers PM2359/2 to PM2364/37 were taken on the same day.
