A slightly distant bow view of six spritsail barges under sail in Gillingham Reach, River Medway, at the start of a barge match with the Repertor (1924) nearest the camera. She has all white sails and a Crowned Head logo on the topsail. All of the barges seem to be on the port tack. The barge on the right with the Tate + Lyle logo is the May (1891) and to her left are the Mirosa (1892) with the Blue Circle Cement logo and the Victor (1895) with the Kent Life logo and the blue and white striped staysail.
