A close view of the starboard bow of the staysail spritsail barge Ethel Maud (1889) which is berthed at Hoo Marina, Kent, at low tide. The barge is berthed bow-on to the shore and the photographer is on shore looking aft and to port. A bearded man is standing by the side pawl windlass and there are four turns of cord on the windlass drum. Just forward of the forward hatch on the starboard side is a rusty and broken stove pipe. The photographer's camera case is on the forward hatch. St. Mary's Island and Chatham are in the background. Negatives numbers PM2365/7 to PM2369/28 were taken on the same occasion.
