A smack and two spritsail barges under sail in the Thames Estuary. The bowsprit barge on the left is seen from off her port beam and is under shortened sail with just her foresail and mainsail set and her topsail partially lowered. The smack is in the centre, is seen from abaft her starboard beam and is on the port tack. Beyond the smack is a staysail barge which has her foresail, mainsail and topsail set but her mizzen is furled.
