Spritsail barges under sail in Gravesend Reach, River Thames, at the start of a barge match. The photographer is looking across the river from Gravesend to Tilbury. The barge on the right with all white sails and the Crowned Head logo on her topsail is the Repertor (1924). Next to her is the Scone (1919) with PREEDCRETE on her white topsail. In the centre with a Blue Circle Cement logo on her topsail is the Mirosa (1892) and she is partially hidden behind a trot of moored motor barges. A vertical format negative.
