A slightly distant port bow view of a bowsprit spritsail barge and a staysail spritsail barge racing during the 1981 Blackwater Match. The leading barge has her bowsprit topped and is on the starboard tack. The staysail barge astern is also on the starboard tack and she is being followed by the staysail barge Scone (1919) which has a white topsail with the PREEDCRETE logo on it. All three barges have white staysails. The race starts off Osea Island in the Blackwater and runs out into the Thames Estuary to the Wallet Spitway off Clacton before turning for the run back.
