Portsmouth Harbour
Signed by the artist, lower left. The date of this drawing is probably about 1906-07 and it is a more finished version of one done in pencil, see PAE0985. On the left are two submarines of the 'A' class with the lead boat possibly being the 'A3'. Astern of them is HMS 'Victory', then still afloat as the Portsmouth flagship. In the centre there are another two submarines and the lead boat is one of the 'B' class. The ships lined up on the right are too indistinct to identify. [BTodd/PvdM 1/13, updated PvdM 9/20]
