A slightly distant port bow view, taken from fine off the bow, of the bowsprit spritsail barge May (1891) under sail racing during the 1981 Blackwater Match. She has a white staysail and jib and is on the starboard tack. An unidentified motor tug is off her port bow and is steering straight for the camera. The race starts off Osea Island in the Blackwater and runs out into the Thames Estuary to the Wallet Spitway off Clacton before turning for the run back. A vertical format negative.
