A sketch showing the tonal effects of waves. From a low viewpoint the artist has focused on the appearance of the waves through the use of colour, grey for the underside. The waves move diagonally across the painting. Areas of the support can be seen showing through. The sky is represented as a wash of lilac paint. the painting is inscribed with artist's monogram lower right.
