A close port side view of the after part of the staysail spritsail barge Pudge (1922), taken from just abaft the beam, while she is under sail in the Thames Estuary during the 1981 Blackwater Match.
A close port side view of the after part of the staysail spritsail barge Pudge (1922), taken from just abaft the beam, while she is under sail in the Thames Estuary during the 1981 Blackwater Match. Her mizzen sail is furled and she is on the port tack. The upper part of her mast and mainsail and everything forward of the mainmast are out of the picture. The race starts off Osea Island in the Blackwater and runs out into the Thames Estuary to the Wallet Spitway off Clacton before turning for the run back.
