A port near broadside view, taken from only just abaft the beam, of the Orient Steam Navigation Company passenger liner Orvieto (1909) under tow and manoeuvring in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She is being turned from the main stream into the entrance lock of Tilbury Docks and a steam tug is attached to her stern to pull her aft end round. She is flying a Royal Mail pennant from the foremast and her company houseflag from the main. Tilbury Hotel is in the right background.
