A seaman demonstrating ropework to a boy on the starboard side of the forecastle on board the passenger liner and cruise ship Orsova (1954) while under way at sea. The bearded seaman is putting the finishing touches to a dogged eye splice at the end of a long hank of heaving line and the boy is holding the line for him. They are sitting on a mooring bollard fairlead and two staghorn moorings are behind them. The seaman is resting his feet on a braided mooring line which has a 3-strand hemp rope underneath it. The front of the superstructure is on the right. A vertical format negative. Negative number G13230CT was taken on the same occasion.
