Seascape
A rapid sketch of the sea looking towards the horizon. The artist has concentrated on the formal method of depicting waves which are shown moving diagonally across the painting. They have been painted in tones of blue with a chalky effect, paler in the foreground and darkening towards the horizon. The sea occupies two thirds of the picture space. The sky is represented by thin washes of colour, lighter on the left. The painting is inscribed with the artist's monogram lower right.
