The waterfront at Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia. The photographer is on a jetty in the harbour looking north-west at the buildings on the Pengkalan Weld. In the centre of the picture is the Malayan Railway Building with its distinctive clock tower and the premises of J.H. Vavasseur and the Union Rubber Brokers Ltd are on the right. The MST building is on the left. A number of junks with their masts unshipped are at the waterside and many sampans are alongside piers. A sampan with a single occupant is in the foreground.
