A slightly distant starboard quarter view of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company bulk carrier Fernie (1967) discharging iron ore in a Japanese port. The ship is in the management of Hain-Nourse Ltd. The photographer is standing on the quay alongside the conveyor belt which is moving iron ore. Two grab cranes are at work transferring the iron ore from the ship to the conveyor belt. An accommodation ladder is rigged close to the base of one of the discharge gantries.
