Study of a submarine at a quayside (unfinished)

This unfinished drawing is a reasonably accurate image of a G-class submarine of which 14 were built (launched 1915-16,except 'G14' which was launched on 17 May 1917). Three boats were sunk during the war, one was wrecked soon after the armistice and the remaining ten were broken up. 'G1' to 'G6' were in the 11th Flotilla based at Blyth and 'G7' to 'G14' were in the 10th Flotilla based on the Tees. The location here is unidentifiable, with gas-lamp standards on the quay and a harbour rowing boat to the right.
