Children at a roll-a-penny stall during a fair on the promenade deck on board a British India Steam Navigation Company educational cruise ship.

Children at a roll-a-penny stall during a fair on the promenade deck on board a British India Steam Navigation Company educational cruise ship. The promenade deck is hung with a string of flags. The aim of the game is to roll the coin down an inclined slope so that it lands on a square on a baseboard. The baseboard is divided into 156 squares that are mostly numbered 2 and 3 but there are premium squares numbered 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10. The number on the square is the number of coins that are won.
