Unnamed coal depot ship
Scale 1:96. Plan shows a proposal drawing to convert a ship of the line into a coal depot ship. The plan includes a profile, half plan, section view and a pencil sketch of the coal cauldron. A note on the plan states the following "A drawing descriptive of the mode for fitting a ship of the line as a coal depot, for about 1800 tons of coals as also a receiving ship for Thames etc, etc, in compliance with their Lordships directions of the 13th inst. The plan has been signed by John Edye [Assistant Surveyor of the Navy 1832-1855]. A further note on the drawing states the following " It is requested that this drawing is returned to the Surveyor's Office when done with 5 February 1847". On the reverse of the plan there is a note which reads "Coal ship of the line proposed for Spithead 1846".
